see it? see it?



Anytime I share an image with a dead animal in it, I get a lot of mostly negative feedback. Even folks who know me well enough have asked. Better than any explanation I can offer, the similarity of these two images best illustrates my approach. Read the muted primary colors, the dynamic lines that divide the picture plain? These images are coming from the same place and have a lot to say to each other. Steel or flesh, watch nature do her thing.
The animal is simply a colorful and textural element of the composition with the added intensity of expressing the fragility of life. A stilled bird is the essence- ground bound. Add the touch of magic and wonder of a rare, close interaction with or observation of a wild creature- and there you are.
These are matter-of-fact, respectful, reflective documentations.
